she had made a promise to the bees

oil painting on birch panel
10 inches square
sold

for probably close to a year i've had the desire to paint something with a combination of bees and icebergs and when i stumbled across the superstition that it was bad luck carry bees over water this painting immediately formed in my mind.

and other bits of news:
i'll be at the sun valley center arts and crafts festival next month and i'm thrilled to be part of a show here in portland - little winter: a handmade market

This is a beautiful painting. I love the mystery created by the combination of icebergs and bees.

I'm wondering what that promise was....

Off to look at your new blog.
