there were so many stars the night turned to day

10 inch square
oil painting on birch panel
$800 available through sebastian foster gallery

a camouflaged landscape inspired by some painting from art history that i can't quite recall but trying to google it and seeing the things that appear when searching "german expressionist" is just too frustrating and it might be russian anyway now that i think about it, a somewhat cartoonish couple painted i think as a reaction to all the custom work i've done lately that while always great fun it can leave me wanting to paint things that have no basis in reality, and a sky filled with stars inspired by a recent much needed vacation.

Do you know Gabriele Munter? Reminds me a bit of her. http://www.artinthepicture.com/artists/Gabriele_Munter/ Or even the moody atmosphere of Casper David Fredrich, earlier (and in a different style). I tool art history, too! :-) Cynthia H
